Amanda Third

Amanda Third is a Professorial Research Fellow at Western Sydney University and Co-Director of the Young and Resilient Research Centre. She is also a Faculty Associate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University (2020–2023). Her work focuses on youth-centred, participatory research, particularly children’s technology practices in marginalized communities and rights-based approaches to digital environments.

Education:

Her research interests include children’s rights in the digital era, global digital practices, and policy frameworks. She has led projects in over 70 countries, collaborating with corporate, government, and non-profit sectors. Notable contributions include co-authoring the UN CRC General Comment 25 on children’s rights in digital environments and leading major publications such as Our rights in a digital world (2021) and Young and Online (2017).

Advising & Grants: Amanda has advised UNICEF, the 5Rights Foundation, and other global bodies. She co-leads the Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies and has coordinated large-scale international initiatives.

Labs/Teams: Her affiliations include the Young and Resilient Research Centre and the Berkman Klein Center, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration on digital equity and youth resilience.
