Amanda Mangum

Amanda Mangum serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Data Science within the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Converse University, where she has held a faculty position since 2019 after previously teaching at Niagara University.

Her academic credentials include:

• PhD in Biomathematics and MS in Mathematics from North Carolina State University
• BS in Mathematics from Centre College

Dr. Mangum's research integrates computational methods with biological applications, particularly through Self-Organizing Maps analysis of atherosclerotic porcine plaques and geometric modeling of lipid separation on Cassinian ovals. Her scholarship bridges biomathematics, data science, and innovative pedagogy, evidenced by her early adoption of Mastery-Based Testing since 2016 following her Mathematical Association of America Project NExT fellowship.
