Amanda Hampton Wray, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at Michigan State University. She earned her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Purdue University, where she was mentored by Dr. Christine Weber-Fox. Her postdoctoral training was conducted in the Brain Development Lab at the University of Oregon under Dr. Helen Neville.
Dr. Wray's research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying attention and language development in children, particularly how environmental factors influence brain maturation and cognitive task performance. Her work also explores interventions to enhance attention and language skills in individuals with communication disorders, utilizing neurophysiological methods such as electroencephalography (EEG), event-related brain potentials (ERPs), and assessments of listening effort.
