Dr. Amanda Gumbert is a Researcher and Extension Water Quality Specialist at the University of Kentucky's Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources. Her work focuses on improving water quality through education and technical support, particularly centered on the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Act and conservation practices in both urban and rural settings.
Dr. Gumbert holds a BS and MS in Plant and Soil Science, and a PhD in Soil Science, all from the University of Kentucky. Her background in soil science and experience with programs addressing water quality, solid waste, air quality, and soil concerns are integral to her role.
Her research interests broadly encompass environmental protection and sustainable resource management. These include stream-side buffer zones, agricultural policy implementation, and environmental policy development, reflecting her commitment to preserving natural resources in Kentucky.
