Amanda Friedenberg is a Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan, Department of Economics. She specializes in game theory, political economy, and experimental economics. Her research explores strategic reasoning, bounded rationality, and information dynamics in political and economic contexts. She holds a PhD from Harvard University and has previously taught at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Washington University in St. Louis. Currently on leave during Fall 2024, she serves as a Managing Editor at the Economic Journal and an Associate Editor at Econometrica and Journal of Economic Theory.
Her research focuses on strategic uncertainty, bounded reasoning, and the implications of finite-order reasoning in games. She has contributed to understanding voter rationality, electoral accountability, and bargaining dynamics under uncertainty. Her work bridges theoretical economics with empirical applications, particularly in political and experimental settings.
