Amanda Ewington is a Professor of Russian Studies and Chair at Davidson College. She teaches courses on Russian language, literature, history, culture, and interdisciplinary topics in the Writing Program, Global Literary Theory, and Humanities program.
- Ph.D. and M.A. from University of Chicago
- B.A. from Barnard College
Her scholarship bridges Translation Studies, French & Francophone Studies, and Gender & Sexuality Studies. She is researching literary discourses of women’s friendship in 18th-century Russia and translating French Enlightenment works for classroom use.
Scientific awards include a Fulbright Fellowship. She advises students on Russian immersion study abroad programs, with past experience leading Davidson initiatives in Moscow, Petrozavodsk, and St. Petersburg, and has developed partnerships in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, and Armenia.
