Dr. Amanda Chisholm is a Reader in Gender and Security at King's College London with joint appointments in War Studies and Defence Studies. Her research examines the privatization of warfare through feminist political economy lenses, focusing on racial and gendered dimensions of private military and security companies.
Her scholarly work employs ethnographic methodologies to investigate security labor markets, particularly examining the household economies sustaining global security workforces. Current research funded by an ESRC grant investigates ethical recruitment practices in armed and unarmed security sectors.
Dr. Chisholm has published extensively on gendered political economies of security, colonial continuities in military labor markets, and feminist critiques of militarism. She co-leads the Forum for Private Security Research and contributes to the Gender Studies network at King's College London.
