Amanda Cawston is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Tilburg University, affiliated with the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences. Her research focuses on political philosophy, feminist philosophy, migration ethics, and animal ethics, with a particular emphasis on the ethics of violence and non-violent resistance. She has published on topics such as celebrity politics, democratic elitism, video game ethics, and epistemic power dynamics. Cawston teaches courses including Political Philosophy, Migration, Refugees and Human Rights, and a master’s seminar on the Philosophy & Anthropology of Health & Illness. Her work bridges theoretical philosophy with applied ethics, addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Her recent publications explore intersections of celebrity influence in democracy, moral arguments in digital media, and ethical frameworks for data acquisition. She is part of the TiLPS Research Group and maintains academic profiles on Academia.edu and Tilburg University's platform.
