Amanda Briggs-Goode

Professor Amanda Briggs-Goode serves as Head of Department for Fashion, Textiles and Knitwear Design at Nottingham School of Art & Design, Nottingham Trent University, providing leadership for 30+ staff and directing the Advanced Textiles Research Group (ATRG).

Her educational background includes:

• MA in Computing in Design from Middlesex University

Research focuses on lace heritage and textile design, with key interests in archive utilization by practitioners, object-based learning in education, pedagogical applications of teaching collections, and lace's social context. Her work bridges historical techniques with contemporary design through extensive archive engagement.

Publications from 2011-2017 reveal evolving expertise from foundational textile principles to heritage-driven innovation, with consistent emphasis on lace history, printed textiles, and design pedagogy. These works demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches connecting material studies with cultural preservation.

As an academic leader, she supervises PhD students and examines theses on smart textiles, sustainable textiles, and lace heritage.
