Amanda Bertrand is a Full-Time Professor of Law at the Nova Southeastern University College of Law. She teaches courses including Legal Research and Writing I and II, Civil Procedure, Disability Law, Insurance Law, Torts, and the Women & the Law Seminar. Additionally, she contributes to the NSU Law Master’s in Health Law program.
- Education: J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law (2004); B.A. in Political Science and French from Loyola College in Maryland (2001).
Her scholarship focuses on Disability Rights Law, particularly reasonable accommodations under the ADA for invisible disabilities and insurance coverage for people with disabilities. Recent work explores the inclusion of Emotional Support Animals in the ADA, intersecting with mental health advocacy and regulatory frameworks.
Professor Bertrand's publications have been recognized on the SSRN Top Ten download lists for Animal Law eJournal, Disability Law eJournal, and Clinical & Counseling Psychology eJournal. She actively presents at legal writing conferences, including the Legal Writing Institute One-Day Workshop and Stetson University College of Law Eleventh Circuit Legal Scholarship Forum.
Prior to academia, she practiced as a litigator in Princeton, New Jersey, and served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Jane Grall in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
