Joseph Brennan is a Professor of Law at Vermont Law School, teaching in both the Residential and Online Hybrid Juris Doctor programs. He has previously held administrative roles as Vice Dean for Students and Director of the Academic Success Program. His teaching focuses on Contract Law, alongside courses such as Legal Methods, Legal Writing, and Torts, with an emphasis on bar preparation and academic support.

Professor Brennan’s research and expertise center on foundational legal disciplines, including Contract Law, Tort Law, and Legal Analysis. His work emphasizes pedagogical strategies for legal writing, bar exam success, and enhancing student comprehension through structured academic support programs.
He has received recognition for his service, including the 2017-2018 Student Bar Association Faculty Service Award, highlighting his contributions to student engagement and academic development.
Prior to his academic career, Professor Brennan practiced civil defense litigation in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, specializing in product liability, employment law, and breach of contract cases. He also served as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, and as an AmeriCorps teacher in Philadelphia.
