Amanda Barnier is a Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research Performance & Development at Macquarie University's Department of Cognitive Science. Her research focuses on hypnosis, memory collaboration, and cognitive aging. She leads interdisciplinary projects exploring group memory dynamics and the impact of hearing loss on cognition. Barnier has authored over 150 publications, including influential works on hypnotic suggestion, social memory contamination, and intergenerational memory programs. She co-developed the Sense of Agency Rating Scale (SOARS) and received the Henry Guze Award (2018) for her hypnosis research. Her work bridges clinical applications, cognitive neuroscience, and social psychology, with a focus on aging populations and memory systems. She has held leadership roles in research initiatives like Capturing and Measuring Cognition in the Wild and collaborates on hearing-cognition links in dementia prevention.
