معرفی
Professor Amanda Able is a Professor in Plant Science at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. She leads research on plant-pathogen interactions, postharvest physiology, and climate stress resilience in crops. With over $9M in competitive grants since 2001, her work focuses on durum wheat stress responses, miRNA regulation, and transgenerational epigenetic effects. She has supervised 18 PhD and 1 MSc graduates since 2002. Awards include the 2006 Tall Poppy of the Year and 2015 USQ Research Alumnus of the Year.
Teaching contributions include Deputy Dean (Learning & Teaching) roles (2019–2022), ASPS Teaching Award (2009), and leadership in national education initiatives like the Agriculture Learning and Teaching Academic Standards project. Her Get into Genes program for secondary students won awards for promoting plant science education. Research spans plant disease mechanisms, capsicum ripening, and inquiry-based learning scaffolding.
Her 15 most recent articles (2020–2025) emphasize transgenerational stress memory in crops, microRNA networks, and career readiness in science graduates. Collaborations include the Molecular Plant Breeding CRC and ACDA Learning and Teaching Academy. Labs focus on integrative omics approaches to stress biology and agricultural innovation.
