Amalia Kotsaki

Amalia Kotsaki serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete (TUC), holding this position since 2007. She concurrently directs the Postgraduate Program (since 2020) and represents TUC in the UNITWIN-UNESCO international university network, demonstrating sustained institutional leadership.

Research Interests: Her scholarship critically examines Neohellenic architecture through lenses of urban space, political power structures, and legal frameworks. Specializing in Modern and Contemporary Greek architectural history, she investigates how architecture reflects societal transformations, particularly in post-unification Crete and Athens' housing justice movements. Her work bridges academic theory with public engagement through major exhibitions.

Scientific Awards:

• Prize of Letters and Fine Arts from Athens Academy (2000) for distinguished young architect (under 40 years old)

Research Leadership and Grants: Professor Kotsaki has spearheaded significant projects including the European Erasmus+ InHerit program (2016-2019), Pyrgos Hleia historical complex development (2010), and scientific coordination of international congresses like "City, Democracy, Architecture" (2018). She served as scientific counselor for the "Ernst Ziller, architect" exhibition at Athens National Gallery (2010), demonstrating expertise in architectural heritage curation.

Laboratory: She founded and directs the Neohellenic Architecture, City and Culture Lab (2020), establishing a dedicated research hub for interdisciplinary studies on Greek architectural culture and urban evolution.
