Korine Amacher is a Professor of Russian and Soviet History at the University of Geneva, affiliated with the Faculty of Letters and the Department of Russian and Soviet History. She has held academic positions since 1995, including Assistant Professor (2002–2007), Lecturer (2001–2012), and research fellowships such as her 2007–2010 stay at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
Her research focuses on Russian and Soviet history, revolutionary movements, historiography, and memory studies. Key areas include the analysis of historical narratives in post-Soviet contexts, the role of revolutionary figures in national identity construction, and the evolution of Russian historiography under political pressures.
Her publications span monographs, edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles, including works on Alexander Herzen, Friedrich Gorenstein, and the historiography of 20th-century revolutionary movements. She has co-edited special issues on topics like 'Historiographies after 1989' and 'Memory and History in the Post-Soviet Space.'
Amacher holds a Doctorate in Literature (2001) from the University of Geneva, where she wrote her thesis on Friedrich Gorenstein's work, earning highest honors. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Russian, History, and Spanish (1992).
