Ama Samarasinghe

Dr. Ama Samarasinghe is a Lecturer in Finance and Financial Planning at RMIT University's School of Accounting, Information Systems, and Supply Chain. She joined RMIT in 2021 after completing her PhD in Finance at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her research focuses on banking stability, corporate finance, sustainable finance, and real estate finance. She has provided expert commentary on personal finance for media outlets.

Teaching roles include coordinating and lecturing in courses such as ACCT2287 (Risk, Insurance and Social Security), ACCT1060 (Managerial Advisory Finance), and ACCT1063 (Managerial Advisory Finance, SIM). She currently supervises one PhD student. Professional memberships include the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and she holds an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (UK).

Her recent research explores the impact of media freedom on banking stability, stock market liquidity effects on bank operations, and sustainable finance frameworks. She actively engages in collaborative academic projects and has been published in journals like Pacific-Basin Finance Journal and International Review of Financial Analysis.
