Dr. Katherine Uylangco is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics & Finance at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), within the Faculty of Business & Law. She earned her PhD in Finance from the University of Newcastle and previously served as a lecturer there for five years. Prior to academia, she held roles in financial intelligence, economic forecasting, asset consulting, and funds management with organizations like the Attorney General’s Department, Australian Customs Service, AUSTRAC, and BT Funds Management.
Her research focuses on financial markets, corporate governance, and predictive modeling. Key areas include director trading dynamics, liquidity effects on banking sectors, regime-switching forecasting in emerging markets, and Value-at-Risk assessments. She has also explored unconventional topics like sports betting market efficiency in tennis matches.
Dr. Uylangco is a member of the Financial Research Network (FIRN) and the Accounting and Finance Association Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ). Her teaching spans advanced financial management, derivatives, and investment strategies. Notable supervision includes PhD candidates examining real estate foreign investment, banking sector liquidity impacts, and monetary policy channels in Australian markets.
