Dr. Alyx Taylor is an Associate Professor of Physiology and Chartered Psychologist at the Health Sciences University, leading the Psychology Subject within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She holds a PhD and MSc, and is a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA). A key academic leader, she oversees Unit of Assessment 24 for REF 2029 and teaches psychology, physiology, and research methods across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Her research focuses on neuroendocrinology, stress response mechanisms, and interventions for mental health disorders. Current projects include evaluating exercise referral schemes for cardiovascular disease, ADHD symptom management through physical activity, and perinatal stress impacts on neurodevelopment. She collaborates internationally on studies involving children, adolescents, and populations affected by pandemic stressors.
Dr. Taylor has published extensively in journals like Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health, International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology, and Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine, with over 15 peer-reviewed articles since 2020. Her work emphasizes translational research bridging physiological mechanisms and psychological interventions.
Professional memberships include the British Psychological Society (BPS), British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), and the Marce Society. She actively contributes to research councils and academic governance within her institution.
