Alyssa McElwain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Wyoming, affiliated with the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences & Natural Resources. Her teaching emphasizes family life education, student engagement, and experiential learning, with courses such as Family Policy, Adolescence, and Professional Practices in HDFS.
- Education: Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies (Auburn University, 2015), M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy (Purdue University, 2008), B.S. in Psychology (Kansas State University, 2006).
Her research explores close relationships during adolescence and emerging adulthood, focusing on peer-led relationship education programs, parenting practices in cultural contexts, and experiential learning's impact on student outcomes. She supervises undergraduate internships in Human Development and Family Science.
