Alyson Cole is Professor of Political Science, Women’s & Gender Studies, American Studies, and Liberal Studies at Queens College and The Graduate Center, City University of New York. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Her interdisciplinary work bridges political theory and American politics/culture, analyzing inequality, suffering, and vulnerability through examinations of political ideologies, rhetoric, law, and policymaking.
Cole's research focuses on:
- Feminist theory and gender politics
- Identity formation in American political culture
- Intersections of race, sexuality, ability, and digitality
- Capitalism as a 'form of life' shaping social relations
- Vulnerability studies and political demonology
Her scholarly publications demonstrate consistent engagement with critical theory, feminist phenomenology, and cultural analysis. Recent works explore digital activism, democratic theory, global politics, and the politics of everyday life through interdisciplinary frameworks blending political science, philosophy, and cultural studies.
