Lt. Col. Ragan Cole serves as an Assistant Professor of Air and Space Studies within the Air Force ROTC program at the University of Portland. A native of Alabama, he holds a Master of Arts degree and brings extensive military operational experience to his academic role.
His educational background:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Auburn University
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University
Professor Cole's research interests center on Military Science, Aerospace Studies, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, with emphasis on operational training methodologies and national security applications. His expertise derives from direct field experience in UAV operations, command staff functions, and global deployments for both combat and humanitarian missions.
As an Air Force ROTC instructor, he mentors cadets in leadership development and aerospace education, integrating real-world military scenarios into curriculum design. His teaching focuses on preparing future Air Force officers through practical aerospace studies and tactical training frameworks.
Outside academia, Professor Cole maintains active engagement with barbecue culture, family life including supervision of two dachshunds, and steadfast support of sports teams despite frequent disappointments.
