Alyson Agar is a Doctor of Philosophy affiliated with Teesside University's School of Arts and Creative Industries. Her work spans creative practice, cultural heritage, and digital media. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art (Northumbria University), a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education (University of Huddersfield), and a MA Photography (University of Sunderland with Distinction).
Her research focuses on Living Archives, Digital Capital, and Immersive Media, with key interests in psychogeography, oral history, and artistic representation of Teesside. Recent exhibitions include works at Pineapple Black Contemporary Arts Space and MIMA, alongside collaborative projects like The Living Archive with Dr Nick John Williams.
Professional roles include membership in the Tees Valley Screen Steering Group, external examiner roles, and mentoring PGCE and undergraduate students at the University of Sunderland. Her research outputs blend artistic practice with academic inquiry, emphasizing community engagement and technological innovation in cultural heritage preservation.
