Alysha Brilla is an Associate Professor in the Music Production and Engineering (MP&E) department at Berklee College of Music, where she empowers the next generation of music creators through innovative teaching, mentorship, and advocacy for equity in audio technology. She serves as the advisor for the Berklee chapter of We Are Moving the Needle, promoting diversity and inclusion in music production.
Her research and artistic interests span music production, sound healing, audio engineering, songwriting, and the integration of global roots with contemporary soundscapes. She is deeply committed to healing through music, exploring the physics of sound, and the psychological and spiritual dimensions of creativity. Her work bridges technology, culture, and wellness, creating inclusive spaces for artistic expression.
Brilla’s recognition includes multiple JUNO nominations, a 2024 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Score for The Queen of My Dreams, and honors such as the Women in Music Canada Entrepreneur of the Year. She has been a featured speaker at SXSW, Folk Alliance International, and Iceland Airwaves, advocating for gender equity and BIPOC representation in the arts.

As an educator and mentor, Brilla provides guidance through academic instruction, workshops, and her online platform, the Frequency Portal, where she shares insights on music production, sound healing, and the creative process. She has collaborated with Grammy-winning artists and has performed internationally at festivals such as WOMAD, Montreal Jazz Festival, and Iceland Airwaves. Her leadership extends to institutions like the University of Waterloo and the School of Audio Engineering in Australia, where she has served as a guest lecturer and resident artist.
She founded the Frequency Portal, an online space offering classes, workshops, and one-on-one mentorship on music production, songwriting, sound healing, and artist self-care. This initiative reflects her mission to democratize access to music education and healing practices.
