Alyse Lancaster is an Associate Professor and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Miami's School of Communication. She joined the university in 1999 with a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Florida. Her research focuses on targeted health messages, public service advertising, advertising effects, and branding strategies, with notable work on Taylor Swift’s brand management. She teaches courses in advertising and social media, including a specialized class on Taylor Swift’s branding tactics, which was featured in the Peacock documentary series “The Taylor Swift Effect.”
Before becoming Vice Dean in 2023, Lancaster led the Department of Strategic Communication as Chair for 11 years and directed the Advertising Program for six years. She co-advised the University of Miami’s National Student Advertising Competition Team (2010–2014), which achieved two national victories and top placements. Her professional contributions include active membership in the American Academy of Advertising, where she currently chairs the Publications Committee.
Her research spans public health communication, media effectiveness, and consumer behavior in magazines and digital platforms. Key studies include analyses of pharmaceutical advertising strategies, magazine ad exposure, and the impact of public service announcements on behavior change. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in industry and education.
