Alys Moody is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication, Society and Culture at Macquarie University. She specializes in twentieth- and twenty-first-century European, American, and world literature, with a focus on modernism and its global heirs. Her research explores how modernist aesthetic ideas have shaped literary discourse and societal perceptions of art.

Research Interests: Moody investigates the evolution of modernist aesthetics, particularly the concept of aesthetic autonomy. She co-edited Global Modernists on Modernism (Bloomsbury) and is completing a book on Cold War-era intersections between world hunger and world literature.
Publications: Moody has authored chapters and articles on figures like Samuel Beckett, Mina Loy, and Chris Kraus, focusing on themes of hunger, aesthetic theory, and global modernist practices. Her work appears in journals like Modernism/Modernity and Australian Feminist Studies.
Recognition: Moody holds teaching excellence awards, including the 2018 Macquarie Vice-Chancellor’s Citation. She has held prestigious fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh’s Humanities Center and the Harry Ransom Center.
Collaborations: She collaborates internationally on projects blending modernist studies with global cultural analysis, including translations of non-Western modernist texts.
