Alpay Er serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial Product Design at Ozyegin University's Faculty of Architecture and Design since 2013, previously holding the same position at Istanbul Technical University (2006-2013).
Education:

Research Focus: His scholarly work centers on Design Strategy and Management, National Design Policies, and Turkish Design History and Culture, with publications appearing in Journal of Design History (Oxford University Press) and Design Issues (MIT Press), translated into Chinese, Italian, German, Korean, Portuguese, and Turkish.
Scientific Recognition:
- Honorary membership from Creative Industries Council (YEKON), 2012
- Knight First Class of the Order of the Lion of Finland, 2017
- Fellow of Design Research Society (DRS), since 2006
Professor Er coordinated Ozyegin University's interdisciplinary Master's/PhD programs in Design, Technology, and Society (2014-2024) and served as visiting professor at Universita Degli Studi Della Campania (Naples) in Spring 2017. Internationally, he represented Turkey on the World Design Organization (WDO) Board for three consecutive terms (2011-2013, 2015-2017, 2017-2019) and judged major design competitions including Red Dot, IF, and RedStar China. As regional editor for Design Issues and former Chairman of ETMK Istanbul Branch (2004-2006), he maintains active leadership in global design communities.
