Alon Friedman is an Associate Professor at the School of Information, University of South Florida. His research focuses on collaborative learning, visualization theories, and statistical analysis tools.
- Education: Ph.D. from Long Island University, M.A. and B.S. from the University of Florida
Dr. Friedman develops innovative teaching tools grounded in visualization theories, including the Visual Peer Review Dashboard (NSF-supported) and applications of Peirce’s sign theory in AI. His projects also explore Mark Lombardi’s social networks through cultural institutions.
Recent publications focus on Peirce’s semiotics in big data visualization, predictive models for student feedback, and analysis of visual communication metaphors. These works utilize R programming, Leland Wilkinson’s grammar of graphics, and open-source frameworks.
