Almut Küppers

Dr. Almut Küppers serves as a Lecturer at the Institute for English and American Studies (IEAS) within the Department of Modern Philologies at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. She has held this position since the winter semester of 2000/2001, with a leave period from 2010/2011 to 2018/2019 during which she worked on international projects in Turkey. Her academic journey includes teaching qualifications from Birmingham (PGCE, 1998) and extensive international experience in Germany, England, the USA, and Turkey.

Her research focuses on multilingualism in education, examining how language diversity shapes learning environments. She investigates reading socialization in foreign language contexts, particularly exploring gender differences and the role of children's literature. Her work also emphasizes drama and theater pedagogy as innovative methods for language teaching, examining how scenic interpretation and creative approaches enhance language acquisition. She has conducted significant research on heritage language teaching, particularly Turkish in German educational contexts, and explores how migration languages function within transnational European societies.

Küppers' publications reveal a strong focus on multilingual education, diversity in classrooms, and creative teaching methods. Her work consistently bridges theory and practice, connecting language education with identity formation, cultural diversity, and innovative pedagogical approaches.
