Helena Roquet

Helena Roquet is a Professor of Foreign Language Acquisition at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) and an affiliated professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). She directs the Institute for Multilingualism at UIC and is part of the consolidated research group ALLENCAM (Language Acquisition in Multilingual Catalonia) at UPF. Her doctoral research (2011) focused on integrating content and language in formal education. She holds a PhD in Multilingual Communication and Translation from UPF, a BA in English-German Translation, and pedagogical training from the University of Barcelona.

Her research focuses on second/third language acquisition, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), and multilingual education. Key projects include evaluating CLIL's impact on language skills in primary education and exploring adjunct instruction effects in higher education. She has led funded projects like INTCLASS (2014-2017) and Aula d'empresa (2015-2017).

Teaching includes CLIL methodology courses for primary education and EFL teacher training. She contributes to the Master's in Language Acquisition and TESOL programs at UIC. Over 15 years, she has published extensively on CLIL effectiveness, multilingualism, and language policy, with recent work emphasizing early childhood education and university-level EFL instruction.
