Dr. Allyson Ion is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University. She holds a MSc in Health Research Methodology and a PhD in Social Work from McMaster University. Her research focuses on critical social work practice, particularly anti-carceral, harm reduction, and anti-racist approaches to child welfare. Dr. Ion emphasizes community engagement, equitable partnerships, and centering the voices of children, youth, and families in healthcare and social service systems.

Research interests include harm reduction in child welfare, preparedness for child welfare practice, and anti-oppressive frameworks in social work.
