Dr Allyson Edwards is a Lecturer in Global Histories at Bath Spa University's School of Writing, Publishing and the Humanities. She serves as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) History program, blending historical analysis with international relations frameworks.

Her research focuses on Critical Military Studies, particularly Russian cultural militarisation, patriotic education systems in the former Soviet Union, commemoration practices, and the use of historical memory. She explores themes of youth engagement, state-controlled narrative building, and ideological indoctrination across post-Soviet eras.
Recent publications examine digital propaganda through Telegram in the Ukraine conflict, child militarization under Putin, and historical textbook analysis. Current work traces continuities between Yeltsin and Putin's Russia regarding youth mobilization and memory politics.
