Allysha Winburn

Dr. Allysha Winburn is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at University of West Florida and Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. Her research examines skeletal manifestations of structural inequality and develops analytical frameworks for forensic contexts.

Research innovations include the Structural Vulnerability Profile (SVP) framework that documents embodied social inequity through skeletal biomarkers. Other work validates skeletal aging methods and analyzes taphonomic patterns in forensic cases.

As consulting forensic anthropologist for Florida District 1 Medical Examiner and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, applies research to medicolegal casework involving unidentified remains and trauma analysis.

Publications critically examine objectivity in forensic science and advocate for equity-focused methodologies. Recent work develops computational approaches for ancestry estimation and bias mitigation.
