Allison Weiss

Allison Weiss is a Professor at Washington and Lee University's School of Law. She specializes in legal writing and prison law, with a focus on parole advocacy. Prior to her academic career, she worked on the federal habeas docket for the Western District of Virginia and in the appellate division of the Federal Defenders for the Western District of North Carolina. Her work has been featured in Mother Jones, discussing the decline of parole in Virginia since 1995.

• Contributed to a 2021 report on Virginia's parole process through the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse clinic.

Her research interests include criminal law, prison reform, and public policy. She has been recognized for excellence in teaching and scholarship in 2020.
