Dr. Allison W. Parsons is an Associate Professor at George Mason University's School of Education, serving as Director of the Elizabeth G. Sturtevant, PhD, Center for Literacy. She holds a PhD from the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on effective literacy teacher practices, including literacy coaching, adaptive teaching, and culturally relevant pedagogy. She explores how classroom culture influences student learning in early grades, particularly in vocabulary and academic language development.
