Allison Vandenberg is a Senior Lecturer in the Women's & Gender Studies department at Auburn University's College of Liberal Arts and co-host of the podcast 'Beauty, Attraction, and the Human Experience'.
She earned her PhD in Gender Studies from Indiana University in 2016, with a concentration in sexualities, desires, and identities and a minor in history.
Her research focuses on gendered engagement in bodily practices, embodiment, and phenomenology, exploring intersections of beauty, culture, and sexuality through feminist theoretical frameworks, particularly examining historical and technological dimensions of beauty rituals.
Her publications demonstrate sustained investigation into how beauty practices shape embodied experiences across historical contexts, with emphasis on phenomenological approaches to understanding gendered bodily transformations.
