Allison Stanger is a Russell Leng '60 Professor of International Politics and Economics at Middlebury College, with affiliations as Co-Director of the GETTING-Plurality Research Network at Harvard University, Senior Fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation (Harvard Kennedy School), and External Professor/Science Board member at the Santa Fe Institute. She is also a founding member of the Digital Humanism Initiative in Vienna.
Her research bridges political science, economics, and technology ethics, focusing on institutional accountability, the political economy of outsourcing, and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence. She has authored and co-edited major works on whistleblowing, complexity economics, and digital humanism.
Stanger’s recent publications highlight trends in AI governance and digital ethics, building on her expertise in U.S. foreign policy and institutional integrity. Her work has been covered in leading publications such as The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, and Wired.
