Allison Silink is an Associate Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Faculty of Law, specializing in private law with a focus on equity, trusts, corporations law, and insolvency. She previously worked at UNSW's School of Private and Commercial Law and has been a practising barrister since 1997, specializing in commercial law, equity, and torts. Her research emphasizes the intersection of equity, common law, and statute in dispute resolution and law reform, particularly in banking, finance, superannuation, and institutional liability for child sexual abuse.
Teaching: Award-winning instructor in Equity and Trusts, Property and Commercial Law, and Commercial Equity. Supervises doctoral students, including co-supervision with Professor Tracey Booth. Recognized with UTS Learning and Teaching Citation (2015) and Lyndal Taylor Award for Excellence in Teaching (2015).
Research & Law Reform: Advised on NSW legislative reforms (Civil Liability Act and Crimes Act) and appeared as an expert witness in Canadian Supreme Court cases. Her work has been cited by multiple state courts. Active in law reform submissions and academic leadership, including convening UTS's Private Law Seminar Series (2010–2021).
Service & Leadership: Organized conferences on institutional abuse law reform, chaired symposiums on banking and financial law, and collaborated with institutions like Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Editorial roles include the Australian Law Journal. Current grant: 'Pathways to Justice for Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse' (2025).
