Allison Macfarlane is Professor and Director of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, specializing in energy and environmental policy with emphasis on nuclear energy, waste management, and regulatory frameworks. Her research addresses technical and policy dimensions of nuclear energy production, waste disposal, nuclear nonproliferation, and climate change mitigation strategies.
Dr. Macfarlane previously served as Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (2012-2014) and was a member of the White House Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future (2010-2012). She has held academic positions at Georgia Tech, George Mason University, and George Washington University.
Significant honors include:
