Allison Foley is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Augusta University’s Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder (2008) and a B.A. in Sociology from Oklahoma State University (2001). Her research focuses on gender-based violence, criminal justice policy, and barriers to post-incarceration reintegration for women. She has led initiatives to engage boys in preventing gender-based violence and evaluated equine-assisted therapy programs for institutionalized youth.
Research & Awards: Dr. Foley’s work has been recognized with the 2018 Caught in the Act of Leadership Award and the Richard S. Wallace Award for Distinguished Service. Her publications span topics like police legitimacy, gendered victimization, and juvenile delinquency interventions. She co-authored the 2020 study on global perceptions of police and local citizen satisfaction.
Service & Leadership: She chairs the Domestic Violence Awareness Month Committee and serves on Augusta University’s Sexual Misconduct Task Force. She has chaired the Department of Social Sciences’ Promotion and Tenure Committee and advised the Criminal Justice Club. Her professional involvement includes roles in the American Society of Criminology’s Division on Women and Crime.
Teaching: She teaches courses on women and crime, social deviance, and gender & victimization. Notable courses include PADM 6900 Graduate Internship and WGST 3336 Women, Crime & the CJ System.
