Allison Bennett Dyche is a Teaching Professor of Journalism & Digital Media in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh, part of the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. She is actively involved in developing a new journalism curriculum and has held leadership roles in academic media advising. Previously, she served as Student Publications Adviser and Director at Appalachian State University, overseeing award-winning student media outlets like The Appalachian and The Peel Literature & Arts Review.

Her research focuses on podcast studies and cross-disciplinary pedagogy in audio storytelling. She has produced award-winning audio works such as “Now, Then, and When?” (On Air Fest 2021) and “Local Organization Mentors Young Black Men Through Old School Values” (BEA 2020). Her teaching includes courses in news reporting, audio storytelling, and podcasting.
Professional Affiliations: College Media Association (CMA), Association for Independents in Radio (AIR), Public Radio Exchange (PRX), and Broadcast Education Association (BEA).
Advising & Leadership: Directed student media at VCU, Appalachian State, and SCAD. Advised organizations such as The Commonwealth Times, AppTV, and District Quarterly. Recognized nationally for advising excellence, including a 2023 service award and multiple CMA honors.
Labs/Teams: Core member of Pitt’s Writing Program, collaborating on interdisciplinary digital media initiatives.
