Allison Abbott is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Sunderland Business School, University of Sunderland since 2016. Previously, she worked at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, following a 27-year career in public-sector HR management, including roles as HR Manager for a Fire and Rescue Service and senior positions in probation and council sectors. She is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Higher Education Academy.
Education: Holds qualifications from Teesside, Northumbria, Keele, and Sunderland universities in HR, Business Management, Coaching, and Employee Relations.
Research Interests: Focuses on employment relationships, redundancy, and preparing HR practitioners for contentious workplace issues. Her work emphasizes practical skill development and employee wellbeing in public-sector contexts. She has collaborated internationally, including with Hoschule Hannover University on an International Cultural Management Programme.
