معرفی
Allen Price is an Associate Professor of Physics at Emmanuel College, where he bridges physics and biology through quantitative research. He leads undergraduate researchers in studying molecular mechanisms underlying genetic regulation and develops innovative educational tools.
Research Focus: Dr. Price's work centers on single-molecule biophysics, particularly DNA-protein interactions. His team investigates how proteins locate specific DNA sequences through one-dimensional diffusion, a process critical to genetic regulation and gene editing technologies. They also develop computer vision algorithms and numerical simulations to analyze molecular dynamics.
Notable Achievements: Secured $952,893 in NSF funding (2012-2021) for genome binding research, pioneered undergraduate biophysics laboratories with custom microscope designs, and published 15+ high-impact studies spanning biochemistry, structural biology, and instrumentation.
- NSF Grant #1 (2021): $378,754 for DNA-protein interaction research
- NSF Grant #2 (2017): $341,217 for genome binding studies
- NSF Grant #3 (2012): $232,922 for facilitated diffusion models
Teaching Excellence: Instructs foundational courses including General Physics I & II, Sustainability Science, and Senior Seminar in Chemistry. Develops STEM education materials for both college and high school levels.
