Dr. Allen George is a Lecturer in Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Sydney, where he has taught since 2009. His doctoral research examined "Anti-Gay' Violence, Criminal Justice and Victimhood in New South Wales" at the University of Newcastle.
His research focuses on:
- Historical and contemporary legal treatment of LGBTIQ communities
- Transitional justice mechanisms for past injustices against sexual minorities
- Hate crime legislation and victim support systems
- Criminal record expungement processes
His publications analyze legal reforms addressing historical discrimination, particularly expungement laws for homosexual offences and improving Indigenous engagement with coronial systems.
Teaching includes foundational socio-legal courses and advanced topics in human rights law and advocacy.
