Dr Allegra Schermuly is a Research Fellow in Sociology at Monash University's School of Social Sciences, specializing in the sociology of health and illness. She holds a PhD (2018) and extensive nursing experience spanning 25 years in critical care, clinical teaching, and immunisation roles in the UK and Australia, including at the Queen Victoria Hospital and Monash Health.

Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, digital technologies in healthcare, and stakeholder engagement. She leads projects like the ARC Discovery Projects DP17, DP20, DP23, and the COMet AMS grant (2024) with University of Melbourne, UNSW, and University of Washington. Her work addresses antibiotic use economics, One Health metrics, and disaster resilience.
Key publications explore antibiotic narratives, antimicrobial stewardship fragmentation, and community adaptation strategies. She has received media attention for her work on pandemic social impacts and Victoria Police trust.
