Allan Morris Brandt is the Amalie Moses Kass Professor of the History of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and holds a joint appointment as Professor of the History of Science in Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He serves as a Faculty Advisor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. His career includes leadership roles such as Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Chair of the Department of the History of Science, and Director of the MD/PhD Program in Social Sciences at Harvard Medical School.
Brandt earned his BA from Brandeis University, followed by MA, MPhil, and PhD in American History from Columbia University. His research focuses on the intersection of medicine, science, and society, with particular emphasis on medical ethics, public health policies, and the historical development of biomedical research practices.
