Allan Dwyer, PhD, CFA, is Associate Professor of Finance at Mount Royal University's Bissett School of Business. His research examines early financial markets, financial crises, and the development of financial/accounting norms in colonial contexts, with current work focusing on merchant finance and credit in 18th-century Newfoundland.
Teaches finance, markets, and capstone courses. Research interests include colonial capitalism, sovereign credit risk, and market responses to political violence. Current manuscript explores links between protocapitalism and the genocide of Newfoundland's Beothuk First Nation.
