Dr Allain Bueno is a Principal Lecturer in Human Biology and Human Nutrition at the School of Science and the Environment, University of Worcester. He joined in 2012 after post-doctoral research at the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition in London, focusing on neurophysiological and biochemical aspects of disorders affecting the central nervous system. His research explores dietary fats' roles in oxidative stress, brain metabolism, metabolic diseases, and neuroinflammation, with a focus on plant polyphenols and lipid interactions. He serves as a Scientific Advisor to the Food Standards Agency and chairs the AEJEG Committee on Toxicity.
Education: PhD and MPhil in biomedical sciences from Sao Paulo Federal University, Brazil. Taught modules include Systems Physiology (Cardiovascular/Respiratory/Neurophysiology), Human Nutrition and Disease Management, and Neuroendocrinology.
- Research Projects: Effects of polyphenols and fatty acids on neural degeneration, high-fat diets and depression in rats, cardiovascular biomarkers in women, and nutritional interventions for breast cancer survivors.
