Alka Tiwari

Alka Tiwari is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Extreme Rainfall & Urban/Tropical Studies at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the intersection of hydrometeorological extremes, urban climate resilience, and community vulnerability.

Research interests:

• Hydrological impacts of tropical cyclones
• Urban infrastructure resilience
• Climate change adaptation in marginalized communities
• Integration of satellite data and AI in flood modeling

Recent publications emphasize the use of satellite precipitation products (IMERG, CYGNSS, SMAP) for hydrological analysis, streamflow prediction challenges, and interdisciplinary approaches combining physical and social factors in climate resilience studies. Her work often addresses the Brown Ocean Effect and post-landfall cyclone behavior.
