Dr. Aliya Amirova is a Researcher at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), affiliated with the Department of Population Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Health Psychology from City University of London (2021) and an MSc in Health Psychology from the University of Surrey. Her research focuses on psychosocial stress, cardiovascular disease, aging, and chronic disease management, with a methodological emphasis on Bayesian statistics and mixed-methods approaches. She has received the Early Career Award from the International Congress of Behavioural Medicine (ICBM).
Her work investigates the impact of perceived discrimination on health outcomes, physical activity interventions for chronic illnesses, and systematic reviews to inform behavioral interventions. Notable contributions include studies on type 2 diabetes incidence linked to discrimination, barriers to physical activity in heart failure patients, and randomized trials evaluating walking interventions for peripheral artery disease.
Amirova collaborates widely, contributing to projects like the MOSAIC clinical trial and studies on rheumatoid arthritis interventions. Her research bridges epidemiology, behavioral medicine, and public health, addressing health inequities and aging populations. She actively participates in academic events, such as the 2023 Population Health Seminar.
