Professor Alistair McCulloch is a Senior Lecturer in Research Education at the University of South Australia (UniSA), based at the City West Campus. He previously served as Professor and Dean of Research and Knowledge Transfer at Edge Hill University (UK), leading research degree programs and policy development from 1997 to 2009. His roles at UniSA include overseeing doctoral education initiatives and research policy, with a focus on research degree supervision and higher education policy.
His research interests center on doctoral education, including supervision practices, research degree transitions, and institutional policies. Notable contributions include organizing the Quality in Postgraduate Research (QPR) conferences (2012–2018), and co-developing supervisor training programs like Supervising@UniSA.
